Therefore, it is crucial to withdraw a sufficient amount of cash in a larger city like Santo Domingo or Barahona before you travel further southwest. Plan your budget for meals, tips, and small purchases, and bring a little extra just in case.

Part of the allure of the Dominican southwest is the opportunity to disconnect. It's important to set realistic expectations for connectivity.
